Greetings from the steamy rainforest of the Congo River Basin! Our little family has been working in the Congo during our fall/winter off-seasons for the past four years. This year for a variety of reasons, we decided to spend the spring here as well. We have been in the Congo since the beginning of March and will return to the States on June 1 for the summer.
There are a number of ways in which we have had the opportunity to serve here in the D.R. Congo. We are involved in training Congolese nurses in primary dental care, as there has been a tremendous need in this area. Luke works with a team of national and international volunteers in providing training in accessible preventive, restorative, and extraction care for local healthcare professionals. These therapists in turn coordinate with the local government health system and provide service via mobile dental clinics at hospitals and village health centers in the Kisangani area. We have coordinated training for 15 dental therapists and will be starting another class soon.
We volunteer with Congo Frontline Missions, a training school and supporting ministry of the the Seventh-day Adventist Church. We are also working with the local church in improving access to quality primary school education in North Central Congo.

Please indicate Congo Frontline Missions dental training in the memo line. For those who may like to donate tools, equipment or personal expertise, please email us regarding needs and opportunities.
