The seeds are getting big and ready for transplanting into the garden. Going in the ground this week will be cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, bok choi and lettuce. It's a salad in the making and so we would like to share a favorite salad dressing we enjoy at the Fisher family dinner table. This tofu salad dressing is delightful on whatever lettuce salad the season brings you. Tofu Salad Dressing 1/4 cup Oil 1/4 cup Lemon Juice 2 tsp Salt 1 tsp Basil 1/2 tsp Oregano 1 14oz package Firm Tofu, cubed Mix ingredients together and let it marinate in the fridge overnight or at least a few hours before adding to your favorite salad. "While the earth remains, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease." Genesis 8:22 High Tunnel 02/13/2012
The addition of a high tunnel has been our biggest project this season. It has been a long process but we are happy to report it is finished! Good things are growing! 02/13/2012
Planting season is picking up as we prepare for spring. This keeps us on the move and sometimes the camera gets left behind. The phone usually makes it though so here are few moments I captured with the (low quality) camera on my cell phone. -Elisa Onions 01/27/2012
We have two new high tunnels here at the farm! The past weeks have been busy ones getting them ready, but we are excited about all the growing opportunity they provide. This is one of the high tunnels getting covered in plastic. We tried to pick a day that wasn't too windy we may have missed, the plastic got a little hard to hold down. Elisa is transporting the transplants! The new high tunnel will house onions that we started in our smaller hoop house. Here is the high tunnel all set up and getting planted in onions. New Year 01/26/2012
Welcome to the new year! We have been busy on the farm constructing high-tunnels, preparing for a cooler revamp, going to agricultural conferences, and reading seed magazines. Is it spring already? I am beginning to get that seed planting itch. It is about time for us to make our CSA delivery plans for the season. Thank you to all of our members who supported us last summer! It turned out to be a pretty good year granted the conditions, but we sure are hoping for more tomatoes and fewer days over 110 this season! We are planning to change our Bristow delivery day to Thursday evenings this year. We hope this will be more convenient for everyone. We would also like to add one or two more Wednesday business delivery locations in Tulsa this season. If you and your co-workers are intersted in delivery to your place of business, please contact me soon. More pictures and updates from the January happenings come soon! Luke Recipes 04/07/2011
If you are anything like our family, you like to eat. Good food. We grow vegetables, we eat vegetables, and we want to share our love of eating fresh vegetables with you and your family. Check out our Recipe page on the website. Some are tried and true, others have yet to be explored. Keep up the healthful living! Keep eating green things! -Emily Asparagus is up! 03/20/2011
The warm weather has brought the asparagus out early. We picked about 45 pounds today. It will keep picking up for several more weeks, but since it started early, it will also end a bit early. Get it while you can! We pick daily. Call (918) 639-0244 for availability. Other news around the farm: we transplanted brocolli, head lettuce, and pac choi out to the garden on Friday. It is looking good. Also, the green onions, spinach, beets, and greens, carrots, and radishes are all sprouting. Will post pictures soon. Luke |
